Faculty Bio
Prior to teaching, Dr. Collica worked for a women's correctional facility in NYS coordinating an HIV prison-based peer education program and for a NY jail supervising their jail-based transitional services unit. She trains professionals in HIV- related issues in the NYS Metropolitan area. Dr. Collica has a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Criminal Justice from the Graduate School and University Center of the City University of New York and a BA and MA from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She is a certified ACA and PREA auditor, as well as ASHI certified. Her Center, Collica-Cox Correctional Consulting, LLC, is an ASHI Training Center for CPR, First AID & AED (kimjail.wix.com/correctionconsulting ). Dr. Collica is the Director and lead instructor for the award winning, Parenting, Prison & Pups Program, a joint partnership between 91Ƶ/Dyson College, Hudson Valley Paws With A Cause, the Metropolitan Correctional Center and the Westchester County Department of Correction. Dr. Collica also teaches an "Inside-Out" type program at the Westchester Jail where 91Ƶ students take CRJ 242 with incarcerated men and women. She also oversees Puppies on the Block, a joint partnership for puppy fostering with the Westchester Jail and Heaven Can Wait. She is well published in the field of corrections. Dr. Collica-Cox is a National Jefferson Award Winner; the Jefferson Award is considered the Nobel Prize for public service.
