Samuel M. Braverman

Biography

Adjunct Professor Samuel Braverman has practiced criminal defense for more than 30 years at both the trial and appellate level. He started at the Legal Aid Society in New York, where for five years he was a public defender, then had his own practice for 15 years where he focused on homicide cases, then for 10 years he was a founding partner in a boutique litigation firm, and now is a shareholder at Anderson Kill, P.C., where he is a co-chair of the Government Enforcement, Internal Investigations, and White Collar Defense Group. He practices in state courts in New York and New Jersey and federal court nationwide. He has tried more than 100 jury trials to verdict and has won reversals on appeals at the New York State Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Professor Braverman is the Chair of the Federal Practice and White Collar Crime Committee at the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, as well as a director, member of the executive committee, and the treasurer of NYSACDL.

Professor Braverman is a Delegate to the New York State Bar Association House of Delegates, a director of the Bronx County Bar Association (where he was also president), and a director and Member-At-Large of the executive committee of the Dartmouth Lawyers Association. He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New Jersey Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the Federal Criminal Practice Committee at the Federal Bar Council.

Starting in 1998, at Haub Law, Professor Braverman has taught Trial Practice, Advanced Trial Practice, and Forensic Evidence in the Courtroom. He has coached numerous mock trial teams.
