Course Description
This hands-on, integrated skills course is designed to engage learners in topics related to current UN initiatives. Students will choose a global issue of interest to them and collaborate with peers on a project that entails debating, negotiating, problem solving and presenting solutions. Students will have the opportunity to tour the United Nations NYC Headquarters.
Objectives
- Conduct simple research tasks
- Edit and provide feedback on research assignments
- Collaborate and problem solve in groups
- Give prepared and impromptu speeches
- Negotiate ideas and plans toward resolution
- Agree and disagree politely
- Compromise final resolution
Course Enhancements
- United Nations briefings (only applicable to groups of 20 or more students)
- Introduction to New York course
