The MSEd in School Psychology at 91ÊÓƵ prepares you to deliver impactful psycho-educational services in schools. You’ll work closely with faculty who are not only experienced educators but also active researchers. Through personalized mentorship, you’ll explore diverse opportunities to engage in meaningful research and expand your expertise.

For bilingual students, additional coursework allows specialization in serving multilingual communities. Graduates are eligible for the Bilingual Education Extension to the New York State certificate in School Psychology to ensure a competitive edge in today’s diverse educational landscape.

Curriculum

Coursework is offered in psychological foundation areas as well as in the professional practice of psychology. Courses are taken on 91ÊÓƵ’s New York City campus in lower Manhattan, and practicum work occurs on campus in the Thomas J. McShane Center for Psychological Services as well as in school districts throughout the New York City metropolitan area.

Bilingual specialization is available to qualifying students.

Gain Valuable Field Experience

Fieldwork is a core piece of your experience in the MSEd in School Psychology program. It begins with experiential activities through 91ÊÓƵ’s Thomas J. McShane Center for Psychological Services and extends to training opportunities in New York metropolitan area school districts. The program also includes a final school psychology internship, typically in a school district in the metropolitan area.

Qualified bilingual students may choose to complete additional coursework and practicum experiences that enable them to provide school psychological services to children in both monolingual and bilingual settings. Graduates with a Bilingual School Psychology specialization are eligible for the Bilingual Education Extension to the New York State training certificate in School Psychology.

    • A personal statement explaining to the Graduate Admission Committee why you would like to pursue the program of graduate study you have chosen. Additional information regarding your academic performance, as well as professional experience, may also be included in the supplement.
    • A resume or outline describing at least the past five years of your employment history and any significant community, professional, or college extracurricular activities.
    • Applicants need 3 letters of recommendation. Letters should be from academic or professional references that can knowledgeably comment on your ability to successfully complete graduate study. Include recognitions and achievements (e.g. licenses, publications, and awards).
    • All Official Transcripts: Transcripts from every accredited college or university attended (not just the degree granting institution) must be sent either to 91ÊÓƵ, directly from the academic institution electronically or by mail, or forwarded by the applicant in sealed envelopes from the academic institution.
    • A GRE score report are optional for the 2025–2026 admission cycle. Applicants are welcome to submit GRE scores if you feel this will help your application, but there will be no penalty or disadvantage to you if you do not submit GRE scores.
