STEM Summer Institute

The STEM Summer Institute is a two-week program for high school students which is sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the STEM+Computing grant: . This grant involves the as a partner.

At 91ÊÓƵ and the Seidenberg School, experiential learning is in our DNA. That means we don’t just teach theory (though we do that too), we put theory into practice so students learn how to apply what they learn to the real world. We also go further than the classroom - students at our summer camp got to meet marine scientists, attend panel discussions with Google and AppFigures, and master apps like Google Colab, GitHub, and Slack. On top of that, they got to work on real data analytics projects with Billion Oyster Project, learn design thinking techniques, and - most importantly - make new, lifelong connections with their fellow students.

Stem Summer Institute 2022

This summer, we are running a free two-week hybrid program from July 18 to July 29 where students in the Tri-State area will learn how to code with Python to create models, use design thinking, explore (BOP) data, and work in teams. Career-oriented activities will complement the instruction. Online activities will permit students to meet professionals of tech companies, such as AppFigures, and hear from amazing data scientists. Students will also get to visit the oyster labs!

We are seeking 34 motivated students from the Tri-State area. Whether students are programmers, developers, gamers, artists, designers, architects, environmentalists, engineers, or simply looking to explore new territory, they will find a creative place to develop their interests and skills during the program.

Please, email us if you have any questions.

What are you waiting for?

So far, more than 400 high school students have participated. Are you next?

No experience? No worries - we start with the basics and walk you through what you need to know. All you need is curiosity and a desire to learn. And did we mention that it’s free?
