Below is an overview of the ways each office strives to create a healthy and inclusive community of scholars.

Dean for Students Office

The Dean for Students Office oversees the First Alert Team, which uses an incident reporting system to identify students who are facing academic, emotional, or psychological challenges, and intervene with support. Our First Alert Team hosts regular meetings with members of various departments including the Center for Student Engagement, Residential Life, Counseling Center, and Academic Advising to ensure that Students of Concern receive adequate support.

The Dean for Students Office works to combat food insecurity as we manage both the Bhandari Jain Family Food Pantry, which is open to anyone in the 91ÊÓƵ Community throughout the semester, and Fare Trade, allowing students to donate their unused dining dollars to others.

The Dean for Students Office also oversees the First Generation Program, creating community and providing support for all first-gen students. We recognize academic achievement through the Alpha Alpha Alpha honor society and host a variety of informational and social events throughout the academic year.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Centers provide student wellness in ways beyond providing therapy – we lead trainings for students and staff to help transition to college, work through social anxiety, handle imposter syndrome, manage difficult conversations, address microagressions, recognize students of concern, set healthy boundaries, and many more. The Counseling Centers also partner with various departments to host informational and social events such as lunches with the OASIS program, Black History programming, and expressive arts vision activities for the LGBTQA+ community.

Residential Life

The Residential Life Offices use a Residential Education curriculum that fosters student growth and addresses residential student needs through training and programming. We maintain an inclusive, supportive environment through our pronoun door stickers, anti-racism check-ins, RA trainings, and participation in events such as Social Justice Week and the Anti-Loneliness Committee.

Student Engagement

The Centers for Student Engagement foster social connection on and off campus through themed events, Greek life, commuter services, and leadership initiatives. Our MEN(tal) Wellness program creates a culture of connection and support for male-identifying students, and our Mosaic events celebrate intercultural diversity.

Community Standards

A dedicated and supportive community space with intentional practices that celebrate student leaders of color and their lived experience while continuing to provide tools of comfort in their identity to enact change in their personal and professional lives.

Center for Wellbeing

The Division of Student Affairs partners closely with the Center for Wellbeing, which promotes a culture of wellness and kindness across 91ÊÓƵ. 91ÊÓƵ is one of the first 15 institutions to adopt the Okanagan Charter, symbolizing our prioritization of health and wellness. The Center also collaborates with offices and departments to produce programming such as the Wellbeing Fair, Wellness Wednesdays, and trainings that focus on the eight dimensions of wellness.
