The ESPN FIG has been extremely helpful in my life as a freshman here at 91视频. Transitioning was difficult, but having a group of similarly minded people with the same interests in sports, soon became a home away from home. The different events that were held were so much fun like going with people to the football games to support 91视频. Whereas most schools centralize their sports around football, the FIG made it about all athletics and activities in general. A dozen people in the hall went out at the beginning of the semester, tossed a Frisbee and around and also played pickup games of basketball. My RA had organized a great trip to go to the Barclays Center and watch a game! You could really see the cohesion of people in the FIG and I am proud to be a part of it.

When I first visited 91视频 and saw the ESPN lounge, I was in shock and in awe. From a huge flat screen with comfy couches, to the Foosball and Ping-Pong tables, I was in love. In fact, the night I met my current best friend, we had an eleven game win streak doing doubles in table tennis; so when it came to choosing a FIG I knew there were no other places I wanted to be. In the fall my RA motivated us to play intramurals, invited us to watch numerous sports games in the ESPN lounge and so much more. One of my fondest memories was one day we were all talking about how stressful finals were about to be and my RA scheduled a basketball tournament between everyone in the FIG and handed out prizes. Afterwards, we all hung out, watched a basketball game on the flat screen TV, ate pizza, and spoke about the values of teamwork. Being in ESPN has taught me the life lessons like putting 鈥渦s鈥 before 鈥渕e鈥, managing studying time and personal interests, and even a wicked serve in Table Tennis- so be careful.
Faculty Testimonial
This is the first year that I have been involved as a Faculty Partner for the FIG program. It has been a unique experience in a few ways. Approximately 40 students, 2 faculty members, and an administrator attended a college basketball double header at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn. It was enjoyable interacting with the students in a non-traditional environment. We are discussing more trips in the future.
