About the Environmental Law and Policy Hack

The Environmental Law and Policy Hack at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law is a problem-solving event that invites students across the nation to propose an innovative and practical response to a current environmental challenge and awards seed funding to support implementation of the winning concept. The three finalist teams will showcase their proposals in Miami, in collaboration with the University of Miami School of Law.

Launched in 2020, the Environmental Law and Policy Hack at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law was developed by 91ÊÓƵ | Haub Environment Law to stimulate innovative legal thinking around pressing environmental and social issues. In 2024, it began a new collaboration with the University of Miami School of Law.

Watch the final round of last year’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law Environmental Law and Policy Hack Competition which challenged students to address the issue of household waste at the regional, subnational or national scale.

The University of Baltimore School of Law placed first in the 2023–2024 competition for its brief, “Achieving a Circular Economy for Textile Waste in Baltimore City: Improving a Significant Public-Private Partnership Through Targeted Legal Reform.
